Many industry sectors, understood out of the box

Most business software gives you a blank system and asks you to model your own trade. SmartBOS is designed to arrive already knowing how your industry actually works — the objects it deals in, the records it must keep, and the UK obligations that carry a penalty for being late.

Many industries, not many skins

An industry earns a pack by being genuinely different underneath, not by sounding different. A salon books a slot; a letting agent watches a certificate expire; a maker consumes materials into a batch. Where two trades share a shape, they share a pack rather than getting a second one with a new name.

  1. Client work

    professional & advisory services

Accountants, bookkeepers, consultants, solicitors, architects, surveyors, and coaches who bill by time.

The shape A work assignment that accrues billable time

Work assignments, time entries, retainers and expenses — billed from the hours you actually worked, with the audit trail a professional body expects.

  2. Agency work

    creative & digital agencies

Design studios, marketing and PR agencies, development shops, content and social studios.

The shape A scope with milestones and approvals

Projects, deliverables, change orders and proofing rounds, so scope cannot drift past what was agreed without anyone noticing.

  3. Subscriptions

    software & digital products

SaaS, apps, marketplaces, digital subscriptions and indie tools.

The shape A recurring entitlement that can churn

Subscriptions, plans, usage meters and trials — and recurring revenue explained in sentences rather than a waterfall chart.

  4. Site-based work UK rules built in

    trades & field services

Electricians, plumbers, heating engineers, builders, landscapers and cleaners with vans.

The shape A visit to a site, signed off there

Jobs, visits, job costing, forms and certificates, and sign-off on site — including CIS deductions and monthly returns.

  5. Stock & orders

    retail & e-commerce

Direct-to-consumer brands, marketplace sellers and small physical retail.

The shape A product moving through fulfillment

Products, stock levels, orders, fulfillment and returns — stock tracking for a business, never warehouse management.

  6. Kitchen & service UK rules built in

    food & drink hospitality

Cafés, restaurants, street food, catering, and small producers with a counter.

The shape A service period costed against food and labour

Recipes, ingredients, wastage, shifts — and the digital temperature and allergen records that replace the paper diary.

  7. Clinical appointments

    health, wellbeing & clinical practice

Physiotherapy, talking therapy, private dental, podiatry, nutrition and small clinics.

The shape A slot held by a practitioner for a person

Clients, episodes, appointments, consent and invoicing.

  8. Bookings & memberships

    fitness, beauty & personal care

Salons, barbers, personal trainers, yoga and pilates studios, aesthetics and nail bars.

The shape A booking, plus a membership that recurs

Services, bookings, memberships, credit packs and commission — and a nudge when someone quietly stops attending.

  9. Cohorts & programs

    education, training & coaching

Tutors, course creators, corporate trainers, bootcamps and executive coaches.

The shape A group progressing through a curriculum

Programs, cohorts, enrollments, milestones and certificates — and a view of who is falling behind before they drop out.

  10. Events & productions

    events, media & creative production

Photographers, videographers, event planners, musicians and production companies.

The shape A booking with a crew and a usage license

Bookings, crew assignments, equipment, usage licenses and deliverables — with the run sheet drafted from the booking.

  11. Properties & tenancies UK rules built in

    property & lettings

Letting agents, small portfolio landlords, block management and co-working operators.

The shape An asset under contract, with certificates that expire

Properties, tenancies, rent schedules and arrears — and gas safety, EICR, EPC and deposit protection tracked by date.

  12. Production runs

    makers & light manufacturing

Craft food and drink producers, apparel, cosmetics, furniture, hardware and artisan assembly.

The shape Inputs consumed into an output, traceably

Bills of materials, production runs, batches, quality checks and purchase orders — batch traceability, never MRP.

And if your industry is not listed

The packs are a head start, not a boundary. SmartBOS is described rather than hand-coded, so it can be extended to what your business actually does — you describe the change you want in your own words instead of raising a request and waiting for a release.

What a pack is not

A pack does not turn SmartBOS into a specialist system for one trade. Stock is tracked, not warehoused; batches are traced, not planned; records are kept as evidence rather than filed on your behalf. The line is deliberate — a business outgrowing it should reach for a dedicated tool, and SmartBOS should say so rather than pretend.
